Reflections of a Mission President

We read of the missionary successes of Alma and the sons of Mosiah, of Paul the apostle, and of the early missionaries in this dispensation – especially in England – but what about since that time? And what about the achievements of missionaries in areas where it is traditionally difficult to baptize? This is a true story of the experiences of a mission president and his missionaries, and how against all odds they achieved success in northern Italy, and became the highest baptizing mission in Europe. In this book, the author reflects on how it all came about and offers some suggestions for success.

I just wanted to tell you that I loved your book. It arrived yesterday and I started reading it after dinner last night and I didn't want to put it down. Of course I had to sleep, but I again read more and more today. Alas, my other activities that I was going to do today were forgotten. I just finished and it was a joy to read. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the world.

I actually began reading your book the day you brought it over and I couldn't put it down! It captured me from start to finish. I loved the way you set it out with headings highlighting each section. This also makes it easy to go back and find any particular part I want to find again. This book is a gem. It touched me on so many levels.

This man and his wife are amazing. I, too, was blessed to be one of their missionaries and one of their friends.

Reading the book prior to leaving for our Christmas travels was such a wonderful gift! It was a delight taking a walk down the memory lane of a most precious experience in my life, this time through your eyes, and it was fun to share it with my husband, David. Congratulations on your accomplishment that brought joy to me and surely to all of my missionary colleagues. And it most certainly carries the potential for support to current and future mission presidents. You must feel a great sense of accomplishment in your venture.

I read the book in two days and I could not hold back the tears. I have relived that which I experienced as a boy. Also, when I read about your parents, the first few pages, I felt like I had know them. I was very blessed to be an eye witness to those terrific three years of the Italy Padova Mission.
